8 very thin asparagus spears
Olive oil
Salt
Pepper
4 Nature’s Own 100% Whole Wheat English Muffins, split
Dijon mustard
8 slices Swiss or Gruyère cheese
1/4 pound deli-sliced smoked ham

  1. Preheat panini grill according to manufacturer’s instructions. Brush asparagus spears lightly with oil; season with salt and pepper. Place on heated grill and close top. Cook 3 minutes or until lightly charred. Cool slightly; cut each spear crosswise in half.

  2. Meanwhile spread mustard over muffin halves. Layer each of 4 muffin halves with 1 slice cheese. Top evenly with ham, asparagus, remaining cheese and muffin halves; press sandwiches together slightly. Brush outside of sandwiches lightly with oil.

  3. Cook sandwiches on panini grill 3 to 4 minutes or until browned and cheese melts.

    Makes 4 sandwiches

Skillet Cooking: Brush asparagus spears lightly with oil; season with salt and pepper. Heat large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add asparagus; cook 5 minutes or until lightly charred, turning occasionally. Cool slightly; cut each spear crosswise in half.

Assemble sandwiches as directed. Cook, covered, in same skillet over low heat 3 to 5 minutes per side or until browned and cheese melts, pressing down with spatula to slightly compress.
